After hours of reflection on my purpose map, I finally diverted from my long-term goals for a moment and started to think about my SMART goals. In my Just start project, I opted for the improvement of my writing skills which also is my passion. I wanted to take this as my smart goal because it will eventually lead me to one of the long-term goals; to become an established writer and publish my stories and articles in one of the leading newspapers of Pakistan.

Writing is a challenging process and needs a high level of dedication and consistency. I have faced frustration and burnout in the past because of the constant failures to write something up to the mark. I also joined a writing agency once for a few months so that I could improve my write-ups, but I had to give up on that job due to my academic burden.

To write every day in itself is therapy for me unless I have to report back to someone; then it becomes a stressful activity because I feel like I can’t use my creative instincts and follow the instructions like a robot.

I have been writing for quite a long time, so it doesn’t feel like something too challenging for me now. however, I did face the challenge of time management this week. due to my academic activities, I had to face a tough time managing to write about my just-start experience. Interestingly, I learnt a lot from this experience although it was not a herculean task; I learned the magic of time management and the value of each moment that I spend carelessly. I also learned that I should be conscious of my daily involvement.

The next steps that I am going to follow in achieving my SMART goal are to read at least 50 pages per day and do an internship for the practical experience.
